Colors and Fabric: Customize Your Designs in iDesignIts

Color and fabric can completely change the character of a fashion or jewelry design. The iDesignIts Design Studio gives you several ways to experiment with both, from choosing a custom color to applying realistic-looking materials and copying fabric from one design to another.

Whether you're working on a garment, jewelry concept, or creative fashion design, these tools make it easier to explore different possibilities.

1. Choose a Color With the Color Picker. The easiest way to select a color is to use the Color Picker.

Choose the color you want and apply it to your design.

You can experiment with different shades and combinations to see how your design changes.

This is especially useful when you already have a specific color in mind or want to create your own custom color.

2. Choose From Jewelry Colors. For jewelry designs, iDesignIts also provides ready-to-use material colors.

You can choose from options such as Gold, Silver, Bronze, Platinum, and Rose Gold.

These presets make it easy to quickly explore different metal finishes without having to manually select a color each time.

For example, you can take the same necklace design and experiment with gold, silver, platinum, or rose gold to see which finish works best.

3. Choose Fabric With the Color Picker. The Color Picker isn't limited to solid colors.

You can also use it when working with fabric.

Select the area or color you want to work with and experiment with different fabric colors to create the appearance you're looking for.

This gives you the flexibility to customize a garment without having to start the design from scratch.

4. Copy Fabric From One Image to Another. One of the more useful features is the ability to copy a fabric patch from one image and apply it to another.

This can be helpful when you find a fabric texture or pattern that you want to use on a different design.

Here's how.

Step 1: Lock the Image. First, click the Lock button.

Locking the image prevents it from moving while you select the fabric.

This makes it easier to work precisely with a particular section of the image.

Step 2: Select a Patch of Fabric. Once the image is locked, select the patch of fabric you want to copy.

Choose an area that represents the fabric or pattern you want to transfer to another design.

Step 3: Right-Click and Copy Fabric. Right-click on the selected fabric patch.

Choose Copy Fabric.

The selected fabric is now ready to be used elsewhere.

Step 4: Move to the Other Image. Open or select the image where you want to apply the fabric.

Position yourself over the area where you want the copied fabric to appear.

Step 5: Paste Fabric. Right-click and choose Paste Fabric.

The copied fabric can now be applied to the new design.

The complete workflow: Lock Image -> Select Fabric Patch -> Right-click -> Copy Fabric -> Select Another Image -> Right-click -> Paste Fabric.

Why Copy Fabric? Copying fabric makes it easier to experiment with different design combinations.

For example, you might find a beautiful fabric pattern in one garment image and want to explore how that same fabric could look on another design.

Instead of recreating the fabric manually, you can copy a patch and use it in another image.

This can be particularly useful for fashion concepts, garment variations, pattern experimentation, fabric comparisons, design inspiration, and creating different versions of the same design.

Explore Different Materials and Colors. A single design can look completely different when you change its color, metal finish, or fabric.

Try experimenting with Color Picker -> Gold -> Silver -> Bronze -> Platinum -> Rose Gold -> Fabric -> Copy Fabric -> Paste Fabric.

The more you experiment, the easier it becomes to discover combinations you might not have considered initially.

Design Without Starting Over. Colors and fabrics don't have to be permanent decisions.
